The Perth congress (19th – 21st February 2016) saw some excellent performances from Bon Accord players, with prize winners in all three tournaments.
In the open Murad Abdulla finished in a tie for 2nd place with 4/5 including a win in the final round against Fide Master Jesper Morch Lauridsen. Euan Gray scored 3/5 for an excellent 2040 rating performance. Richard Jennings scored 2/5, Callum Smith 1½/5.
The major was won by Tariq Pasha with 4½ points out of a possible 5. Tariq went into the last round ½ a point clear of the field, and so was able to get clear first with a draw. Stuthi Hegde was also playing in the major and scored a very solid 2/5.
In the minor the top scorer, from Bon Accord was Nandini Dutta with 3½/5, finishing equal 3rd. Oishani Dutta, Kalyan Kante and Aditya Hegde all scored 2½/5 and all achieved excellent tournament performances. Nandini had a TPR of 1310 (338 points above her rating) Oishani 1051 (+211), Kalyan 1216 (+467), and Aditya 811 (+333).
