Inverness and Largs

Two recently concluded congresses included several participants from Bon Accord:

Inverness

The Inverness congress was held on the weekend of the 2nd – 4th September. The best performances were Connor Sibbald almost winning the minor, and Euan Gray recording an impressive TPR of 1997 in the open.

Largs

The Largs Viking congress was held on the weekend of the 9th – 11th September. A couple of notable firsts: Adam Bremner won an open tournament for the first time (although he lost out on prize money on tie-break update: 17/09/16 – after a recout Adam won first prize on tie break), while Pranav Arcot won his first ever game in an adult tournament.

Marymass Chess Congress

A number of members of Bon Accord chess club were competing at the Marymass chess congress in Irvine last weekend.

Neil Irving scored 2½/5 in the open. In the major Kalyan Kante scored 1½/5, while Anna Milton (playing in her first tournament for over a year) scored 1½ points in the first four rounds and was working on converting a bishop ending with a couple of extra pawns in the final round at the point when I decided to go home.
