Arrangements

-> A few days before the preferred date, the organiser will circulate the draw in an e-mail. Players should contact their opponents to confirm their availability for the preferred date and time or agree an alternative*. In the absence of any contact between players, the preferred date will be
assumed to apply. *Please have the courtesy to inform your opponent in advance if you can’t make the preferred date.
-> If you are having difficulty getting a fixture played, please contact the tournament organiser. No result + no communication = loss by default!
-> Results will be submitted for CS grading. Consequently, games must be played over the board
and the minimum time limit must be respected.
->It is the responsibility of the winner (or White in the event of a draw) to report the result to the
organiser. Results should be reported by the deadline for the round. The organiser would
appreciate the result being reported as soon as possible after a game is completed.

->The winner will be declared Bon Accord Club Champion for 2023-24.

->In the event of a tie, a play-off will be arranged.

Junior Coaching Sundays

We are thrilled to announce that the Bon Accord Chess Club are starting coaching for junior club members on Sundays 2 -5pm. The first Sunday shall be 29th October. Junior club membership is currently £50 per year.

Rough plan is

2pm doors open – play games

2:30pm – Junior/new player coaching + puzzles

3:30pm Slightly more advanced still aimed at juniors/new players + puzzles

4:30pm Play chess

5pm ish close

The coaching session probably would take a full hour so there will opportunity to play chess against stronger players and get some 1 to 1 coaching.

The plan is every Sunday until the end of the year except the 12nov which should be a NEJCA tournament in Aberdeen for the juniors.

Our normal Chess Club night is Wednesday 7pm to 10pm @ The Bridge Club, 14 Rubislaw Terrace, Aberdeen.

Sunday coaching is at the same address. Free parking directly outside on Sundays.

Bon Accord Chess Club AGM

Summary

The Club is in a good position. It was great to see so many new and familiar face back playing chess over the board last season. There were 42 memberships taken out, including 2 family memberships so nearly 50 players.

Fees

Finances are strong and we made a surplus over the year. So, we agreed to keep Club fees the same as last season.

Adult £100

Junior/ Concession £50

Family £150

Country £35

Opening times

We agreed Wednesday night opening 7-10pm.

Sunday afternoons 2-5pm provided there is interest. This would be for both coaching and games. Could even open until 6pm on Sundays.

Also check if there would be interest in another chess night (post meeting Mondays are busy so would have to be Fridays) We would need more key holders and may have to put fees up to cover costs.
